That’s why Google’s Safe Search feature lets you filter out search results that you might not want yourself or your kids to see.

In this blog post, we’ll show you how to use SafeSearch to filter explicit results, turn it on or off, and manage it for others.

Filter explicit results using Google Safe Search

Google’s SafeSearch feature is a great way to filter out explicit or graphic content from your search results. To enable SafeSearch, simply go to Google.com and click on the “Settings” cog in the top right-hand corner of the page. From there, select “Search Settings” and scroll down to the “SafeSearch Filtering” section. Select “Filter explicit results” and then click “Save”.

Once SafeSearch is enabled, you’ll see a message at the top of your screen letting you know that it’s turned on. You can also tell that it’s working by looking for the SafeSearch logo (a green triangle with a whitecheckmark) next to web results that have been filtered.

If you’re ever not sure whether Google Safe Search is enabled or not, simply go back to the “Settings” cog and check the “SafeSearch Filtering” section. If it’s set to “Filter explicit results”, then SafeSearch is still active.

SafeSearch is on, but explicit results still appear

If you’re seeing explicit content in your search results, you can report it to Google. To do this, click the “Feedback” link at the bottom of the search results page. Then, select “Report offensive results.”
